HEIC/HEIF to PNG
Input guidance: This page is written for HEIC/HEIF files, but the converter still accepts the other supported image, SVG, TIFF, HEIC/HEIF, and PDF inputs.
Output preset: PNG is selected first. You can change the dropdown before converting any file.
Convert locally
Convert HEIC images to PNG when you need a lossless result for editing, screenshots, or design handoff. PNG is selected by default on this page, while the output dropdown remains editable.
When PNG is the better HEIC export
PNG is useful when you plan to edit the converted image, place it into a design file, or avoid another lossy save. It is less compact than JPG, especially for camera photos.
Browser-local conversion
PixTools decodes the HEIC file in the browser, then exports a PNG from Canvas. If your browser cannot decode a specific HEIC file, the row will show an unsupported message.
Limitations to know
- HEIC decoding can fail for unusual camera variants or older browsers.
- PNG output keeps detail but can be much larger than JPG for photos.

Frequently asked questions
Is HEIC to PNG free?
Yes. HEIC to PNG is free, runs locally in your browser, and does not add a watermark or require sign-in.
Why is my PNG larger than the HEIC file?
PNG is lossless and stores full detail, so a converted camera photo is usually much larger than the compressed HEIC source. Choose JPG or WebP when you want a smaller file.
Does HEIC to PNG keep transparency?
Standard iPhone HEIC photos have no transparency, but if a HEIC file does include an alpha channel, the PNG export preserves it.
Is my photo uploaded anywhere?
The photo is decoded and exported in your browser and is never uploaded to a PixTools server, so it works the same on any operating system.
