Crop image

JPG, PNG, WebP, or BMP. Your image stays in your browser.

Crop settings

Drag across the image to draw a new crop, or set every coordinate here. X and Y start at the top left.

Dimensions round to whole pixels and fit inside the source. Presets may differ by a pixel after rounding.

PNG and WebP keep transparency.

Crop an image without resizing it

Remove unwanted edges from a screenshot, frame a product photo, or make a square profile picture. Cropping keeps only the selected rectangle at its original pixel size. To scale the whole image, use Image Resizer. To reduce file weight without changing the framing, use Image Compressor.

How to choose your crop

Choose or drop one image, then drag across it with a mouse or touch. You can also use the X position, Y position, width, and height fields for the entire workflow with a keyboard. For example, X 100, Y 50, width 400, and height 300 keeps a 400 × 300 pixel region starting 100 pixels from the left and 50 pixels from the top. Reset restores the full image and PNG output.

Square and landscape presets

Choose Free, 1:1, 4:3, or 16:9. Editing width calculates height, and editing height calculates width. The other dimension rounds to the nearest whole pixel; bounds can reduce both dimensions to fit. Tiny images keep at least one pixel per side, so the final ratio can differ after rounding. The displayed rectangle and download always use the same integer coordinates.

Formats and transparency

Open JPG, JPEG, PNG, WebP, or BMP and export PNG, JPEG, or WebP. PNG and WebP retain transparency; JPEG replaces transparent areas with white. JPEG and WebP are re-encoded at a fixed high quality, so their pixels and file size may change. PNG is suitable for sharp screenshots and lossless crops.

Local processing and limits

Your selected image is decoded and cropped in your browser, without uploading it to a PixTools server. Inputs are limited to 25 MiB, 24 million decoded pixels, and 8192 pixels per side. Coordinates follow the orientation shown by the browser, including supported photo orientation metadata. Exports are still images and do not preserve source metadata or animation. This tool does not rotate, enlarge, or batch-process images.

Download and troubleshooting

Wait for Download crop to become available after changing settings. The filename includes the crop dimensions. If decoding or export fails, try a smaller image or PNG output in a current browser. Use Image Converter for other input formats, or visit PixTools help for more guidance.
