Image to text help

Image To Text extracts readable text from images in your browser, with batch OCR, row previews, copy actions, TXT downloads, ZIP downloads, and combined text output.

Common OCR Uses

Use it for screenshots, scanned notes, receipts, labels, simple forms, slides, and documents where visible text needs to be copied, searched, translated, or saved as plain text.

Supported File Handling

The tool accepts common browser-readable images plus SVG, HEIC/HEIF, TIFF, and PDF files where local decoding is available. PDF OCR currently reads the first page of each PDF file.

Local OCR And Privacy

PixTools does not require an account and does not upload selected files to a PixTools server for OCR. Your browser may download OCR runtime files and language data needed to recognize text locally.

Batch Output And Downloads

Add up to 10 files, choose the OCR language, and run OCR on one row or the whole queue. Completed rows can be copied, downloaded as individual TXT files, bundled into a ZIP, or exported as one combined TXT file.

Quality Factors

OCR accuracy depends on sharpness, contrast, rotation, font size, language choice, and layout. Handwriting, dense tables, curved text, low light, compression artifacts, and blurred scans can produce incomplete text.

Troubleshooting

If OCR fails or returns poor text, try a sharper source image, crop out unrelated content before OCR, use a higher-resolution image, pick the closest language, refresh the page, or try PNG/JPEG input.

Related Tools

Use Image Converter when a file needs a different image format, Image Resizer to shrink large scans, or Face Blur before sharing images that include identifiable people.

FAQ

Does PixTools upload my image for OCR?

No. Image To Text runs OCR in your browser and does not upload selected files to a PixTools server for text recognition.

Can it read every page of a PDF?

PDF input is decoded locally when possible, but the current OCR workflow reads only the first page of each PDF.

What can I download?

You can copy text from a completed row, download individual TXT files, download a ZIP of per-file TXT results, or download one combined TXT file.

Can I get help with OCR problems?

Yes. Send the browser, file type, language, and what happened through the contact page. Do not send private images unless you are comfortable sharing them. Read the privacy page for image handling details.
